If you find yourself overnighting in or around Grand Coulee, Washington, the laser light show is the thing to see.
One of the largest light shows in the United States, Grand Coulee Dam laser light show started in 1989. The 37 minute long narrated show tells the story of how the dam came to be built and includes a dramatic flag-waving finish. The show premiered in 1957 with flood lamps and has been modified as technology has evolved.
The best places to see the laser light show are from the park at the base of the dam, from the landscaped bleachers on the east side of the bridge and from Crown Point Vista which is 1 mile off Highway 174. (We watched from the bleachers where we met and talked to a very nice couple from Newport, Oregon.)
The show is great. Too bad my picture didn’t turn out better…
