I’m not particularly fond of snakes, but I found this bull snake when I went down to my garden to do some weeding.
Poor thing, it was caught up in our deer netting.
What you don’t see (or hear) in the video is my first scream or the next 15 minutes of deliberate effort (by Ed) to release the snake from his bondage…. amidst much MORE shrieking from me. 🙂
Wow! I don’t like snakes. That’s for sure. I can understand screaming and shrieking (and I’m a 300 pound former professional wrestling personality.)
When we purchased our house, our real estate broker said, since we live in the desert, we may see bugs, spiders, scorpions, rodents and snakes. I said, “Bugs I can deal with. Spiders and scorpions, I can deal with as long as I see them first. Rodents, I can handle as long as there is an exterminator close by. Snakes are a different thing totally. If you see a snake in the yard and you say, ‘Tim, look. There’s a snake,’ you’ll be talking to yourself because I’ll be in the front yard pounding a for sale sign into the ground.”
Now that the more rational and humane part of me is back in control (sorry, it went away for a second), were you able to free the snake without too much of an incident?

Hi Tim,
Too funny! and I hear you. I can even live with black widow spiders that nest in dark corners near doorways. But I’m definitely weirded out by snakes.
And yes, Ed managed to free the snake from the trap, but it still had some netting around its body, so not sure how it would have fared afterwards. Can imagine that it probably got hooked on a branch somewhere and died of starvation. Sad.
