Leaving is Hard to Do

After spending a scant four months at home in Penticton, leaving for the winter was more difficult than usual this year.

The summer was phenomenal weather-wise — very hot and dry for weeks on end — much as I remember it back in the early ’90’s before it got weirdly cool and wet.

Too, we had so much fun with our friends and neighbours this summer that saying goodbye was really hard to do, especially considering we’d like to be around to see certain folks through their treatments back to 100% health. Morning coffees, afternoon brewskies, barbeques, happy hour (hours and hours), a Canada Day party, Dexter and Breaking Bad marathons, Scrabble games, playing in the pool, hiking the KVR, working in the garden, evenings at the Dream Cafe, and having Kuper (Jasper’s best bud) over for regular play dates are just some of the joys of living on the best street in the world. 🙂

But commitments have to be honoured — meetups with friends and family in many ports of call and that non-refundable Cirque du Soleil ticket for Ka at the end of October — so it was time to hit the road southbound.

On the brighter side… at least I didn’t try to tear off the trailer bumper by raking it along the rock wall this year.

And the neighbours had a good laugh when I stopped in the middle of the road and Ed jumped out of the truck. Hmmmm… apparently it helps when the trailer is actually connected to the truck.

Sign of things to come?

Perhaps my trepidation is warranted…
