I’ve just upgraded my Genesis sites. Have you upgraded yours?
Here are the specifics according to the good folks at StudioPress…
Genesis version 1.5 is one of our smaller “major” releases, but packs a few features you’re sure to appreciate.
The Specifics
The following are specific changes made in this update.
- Completely rewritten stylesheet
- New Genesis Grid Loop feature
- Rewritten breadcrumbs class
- Post Format support (once WordPress 3.1 drops)
- Fixed bug in breadcrumbs for category link display
- Fixed custom category/tag doctitle issue
- Fixed list categories widget menu issue
- Added Tweaks to genesis_do_post_content()
- Added hook to header right widget area
- Passed all HTML entities through new ‘g_ent’ filter
Upgrading
NOTE: If you have made any changes directly to files in the
/genesis/
folder, upgrading will overwrite these changes. Therefore, we recommend that you NEVER make changes this way. Alternatively, use the CSS in the child theme folder to make stylistic modifications, and use the proper PHP files in the child theme folder, along with the Genesis Hook system, to make functional/output modifications.Using the Automatic Upgrader
- Click the “upgrade now” link in the update notification at the top your your dashboard page.
- Confirm the upgrade.
- After the new version is installed, click the link to complete the upgrade.
- All done!
Upgrading Manually
- Before you upgrade anything, make sure you have backup copies of your child theme.
- Delete the old
genesis
folder from yourwp-content/themes
directory- Unzip and upload the new
genesis
folder to yourwp-content/themes
directory- Log into the dashboard to complete the upgrade process.
Child Theme Changes
If you have built a child theme and used the @import method to use the default Genesis styles with your child theme, you will want to pay attention to the possible effects the rewritten stylesheet may have on your site. Older versions of the style.css file still work fine, so if your child theme is affected, just use the stylesheet from Genesis 1.4.1 in your child theme. You’ve been warned.
System Requirements
Genesis REQUIRES WordPress 3.0 or later in order to function properly.
- WordPress 3.0 or higher

Hi Ros,
After reading about your upgrade, I went to http://www.101date.com to get an idea of the setup. As I read your “story” in the “About” section, I came across a sentence that was a bit confusing. I think that it might be the result of a couple of typos resulting from writing quickly. It is the following sentence:
“Before I could dip my in toe into Yahoo’s virtual hot tub, I was bombarded me with a volley of personal questions.”
If you were a Cajun from southern LA, I would have chalked it up as being culturaly correct. But, of course, you aren’t. (:>)
I tried to find a way to communicate this confidentially, but couldn’t, so resorted to this medium. Thought you would want to be informed.
Loving ABP,
Doug

Hey Doug,
Thanks SO much for both the typo notice AND the great laugh.

Hi again,
You will notice that I have the same problem when writing quickly, as evidenced by the word “culturaly” in my previous note.
