On May 5th, 2007, Ed and I were thrilled to celebrate the wedding of Ed’s nephew Andrew and Carol at Paletta Mansion in Burlington, Ontario.
Already beautiful, Carol was an extraordinarily beautiful bride and the smile you see in the picture never left her face. Her tiered dress was both fabulous and elegant. Andrew was relaxed, charming and dare I say – relieved? 🙂
There were about 75 guests in attendance to witness the event and many had come from far-flung reaches of both the country and the planet. Already acquainted with Carol’s wonderful parents Jim and Laura, it was a pleasure to meet more friends and family from her side. It was especially nice to spend time with my old friend and ex-roomate Damon, who is also getting married later this year.
Remarkably, considering it was early May and the days prior to and after the wedding were cold and windy, the weather that day was perfect. Warm enough to hold it on the patio without all the women having to cover their lovely dresses with coats, or freezing to death without them.
The venue was superb. Paletta Mansion is a magnificently restored 20th century lakeside estate situated amidst fourteen acres of natural and formal gardens, with a breath-taking view of Lake Ontario.
All in all, Carol and Andrew’s wedding was a fantastic event that took place over the course of several days – rehearsal dinner, ladies’ spa day, the wedding itself, brunch at Jim and Laura’s, and an out-of-towners dinner in Toronto’s distillery district. Ed and I were particularly fortunate to get ‘alone time’ with Carol and Andrew both a few days prior to and when we met them for dinner just before they left for their honeymoon.
I’m honored to call them family and wish them a lifetime of happiness, fun and adventure together. See the pictures of Carol and Andrew’s Wedding on Flickr.

Please pass along my congratulations to Andrew and his bride. I used to work beside Andrew when he worked at Consumers Gas (in the ’90s), and when his name was mentioned recently (with regards to ZGas Escape – he’ll remember), I decided to do a search to see if I could find him. Please also feel free to pass along my email address if Andrew feels like corresponding.
Thank you,
Sharon Baxter
