Are you an Ice Cream Junky? Then, when you’re in great state of Vermont you must visit the home of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
We visited the factory in September. Despite being the ‘off season’ for ice cream, the place was crammed with tour buses and we ended up parking in the third parking lot quite a distance from the visitors entrance.
On our way to the plant we… stopped by the “Flavor Graveyard” where flavors that were cut from Ben and Jerry’s repertoire are remembered. We met more than a few folks in the graveyard who were grieving for their dearly departed favorite flavors.
Amongst the gravestones we found Blackberry Cobbler, Blueberry ice cream and Deep Dark Chocolate and so we joined the mourners in a few moments of reflection.
The tour is fun and you get to see the ice cream manufacturing process. Best of all, you get to sample some flavors.
There is a children’s play area, the kids will love it. Grab a cone at the Scoops Shop and sit and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside.
The factory it is located in Waterbury Vermont on I-89 Exit 10 to Route 100 North.
