We watched a sad report on the news the other night which stated that the sandbar at Point Pelee, Canada’s southernmost point, is disappearing.
Historically, when the water level in Lake Erie is low, the sand bar at Point Pelee extends far out into the lake. Sand from adjacent bluffs that are eroded by wind and wave action regularly replenish the tip.
Unfortunately however, man-made erosion protection on the surrounding shores is hastening the Point’s disappearance.
So, visit soon before it is gone forever! For more information about Point Pelee, visit Parks Canada.
