What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “Seattle”?
Starbucks? Frasier? Grey’s Anatomy?
Well, there’s actually a lot more to Seattle besides “McDreamy”.
Ros’ note: More than McDreamy? Somehow I doubt that! “Whatever could it be?” she asked…Why, it’s the Space Needle which we visited this summer.
The 605 foot tall tower’s theme is “Live The View” and you do get a wonderful 360 degree view. On the day we visited the visibility was unlimited and we enjoyed wonderful views of the city, Puget Sound and Mount Rainier.
The Space Needle was built for the Worlds Fair of 1962, and in those heady space-race Jetson days, the styling was futuristic.
Guides give regular talks at the four cardinal compass points, and we found it well worth our time to stop and listen for awhile. For those unfamiliar with Seattle, a visit to the Space Needle early in your trip will help you figure out the city’s layout and get your bearings quickly.
