Living in Canada and doing a lot of traveling in North America tipping is natural, we seem to tip everyone everywhere. The only concern is how much to tip. Tips range from 10 to 20% percent or more depending on the service we receive. Sometimes tips are given because they are expected rather than deserved.
Once you leave North America the waters become very murky. Tipping customs are as varied as the locations visited.
In some cultures tipping is considered rude. In others a service charge is added to your bill.
It is a good idea to do a little research on tipping customs before you depart. That’s what I was doing for our upcoming trip to East Asia when I decided to write this post.
