After 9 years of spending the better part of our winters in Oro Valley, just north of Tucson, we finally went to the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show this year.
BUT, we had to wait until the final day of the show to be able to go due to a flood at Catalina State Park, where we were camped.
The Tucson Gem & Mineral Show is the largest, oldest and most prestigious gem and mineral show in the world and is held at the Tucson Convention Center. The show is in its 65th year in 2019.
According to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society…
“Established in 1946, we began as a small group interested in the hobby of mineral collecting and lapidary. The Society’s intent from the start was to further the knowledge and appreciation for a hobby that was just beginning to grow.”
Furthermore…
“the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show® was the first gem and mineral show to bring the hobby enthusiast, the public, and the curator/professionals together for discovery and discussion”.
Honestly, the show was absolutely amazing.
Over 2 floors of the convention center, were hobbyists, collectors, retailers, mining companies, lecturers and more…
Ed and I feel happy to have left buying only a ring apiece and a bracelet for me… but I could have dropped SO much more!
Here is the exquisite ring that Ed purchased…
