The Peninsula Palace in Beijing is just that – a palace.
This was our favorite hotel of all the hotels that we stayed at during our trip to China.
Our room was spacious and featured a 42-inch plasma TV, marble bathroom, a bedside electronic panel which centralizes all control functions in the room. There is also an electronic display by the door showing outdoor temperature.
The Arcade has 50 shops including Chanel, Cartier, Tiffany and Coach.
Each day of our stay there, we enjoyed the hotel’s breakfast buffet. The food options were excellent, ranging from traditional Chinese to Western.
Service at the Peninsula Palace is absolutely first rate. The reception desk is over-staffed, so no waiting, and each staff member that we encountered spoke English.
Rates start at ¥ 2,800 (about $355.00 USD) and go up to a whopping ¥ 41,000 (5200.00 USD) for the Peninsula Suite.
The hotel is located within easy walking distance of Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City. Wonderful shopping and dining opportunities are everywhere.
