For an awesome view of The Big Apple, pass on the Empire State Building and visit the TOP OF THE ROCK – the observation center at Rockefeller Plaza – instead.
Unlike the Empire State Building you get a 360 degree view from the TOP OF THE ROCK. To the north is Central park, looking south is Liberty Island and the statue as well as the Empire State Building. To the southeast, you’ll see the Chrysler Building and the United Nations building.
Renovated and reopened in 2005, the complex spans from the 67th floor to the 70th floor, at 872 feet(266 m).
The day we went up was overcast windy and quite cool but visibility was great and the cooler weather kept the crowds at bay.
The observation deck is open 365 days a year, and ticket prices are very reasonable. You can get your tickets for TOP OF THE ROCK here.
