Ed and I were finally able to visit Cathedral Gorge State Park last November after waiting years to do so. What I mean about ‘finally’ visiting the park, is that we missed it both north and southbound primarily due to weather. Because Cathedral Gorge sits at 4,800 feet (1,500 m) above sea level, it is often too cold or still snow-covered when we pass through the area in November and again in … [Read more...]
We Hit the Jackpot at Cactus Petes RV Park
We stayed at Cactus Petes RV Park in Jackpot, Nevada, for the first time last night and it certainly won't be the last time --- what a great find! Prior to this winter's trip south, we've always stayed in and around Twin Falls, Idaho, mostly at the 93RV Park in Filer. Jackpot, Nevada is a mere 44 miles south of Filer. Cactus Petes campground is easily accessible off Highway 93 with uber … [Read more...]

The ascent at 45 mph was easy, but the 35 mph descent into South Lake Tahoe on wet roads and dragging 35' of trailer was just a wee bit challenging, considering it was hard to maintain the speed … [Read more...]
Hike to the Hoover Dam
We were staying at the Lake Mead RV Village in the Lake Mead Recreation Area and did the Historic Railroad hike from the trailhead to the Hoover Dam with Jasper. The trailhead for the hike is located near the Lake Mead Visitors Center on the south side of the parking lot. Round trip mileage to and from the Hoover Dam is 7 miles. The gravel trail hugs the hills on the southern shoreline of … [Read more...]

Once there was a paved road running up the whole length but this has long been disused and most sections have eroded away. Now, travel on foot … [Read more...]
