Today's drive was difficult to say the least. We left Lafayette, Louisiana enroute Houston, Texas with 3 hours and 20 minutes ahead of us. Beautiful East Texas
Afer the never-ending flat dryness of the Texas Panhandle, Ed and I had our spirits lifted as we traveled farther east into Texas. The trees get bigger. Oh wait, first of all, there ARE trees. Surprise in the Texas Panhandle
I found driving through the Texas panhandle (the northwestern region) pretty depressing. It's flat, dry (uber-dry having suffered from years of drought) and loaded with economic bust-towns. Jasper Loves Missoula
So do we. Seriously, I could live here. Missoula, Montana is a university town in a valley surrounded by mountains - population about 67,000, according to Wikipedia. We did most of the Missoula historical walking tour in under an hour.The architecture is fabulous - ranging from late 1800's to 1930's/1940's deco to uber-modern.
